Why he might be annoying:

    He was nicknamed 'The Mad Bomber' as a result of his affinity for throwing long ball passes, regardless of the situation he was playing in.
    He turned down a contract offer from the Chicago Cubs in order to play football.
    He put on one of his worst performances in the AFL tiebreaker game against the Boston Patriots, recording three interceptions, which cost the Bills a division title (1964).
    He was primarily used as a backup during his tenure in Buffalo.
    He spent his final season of pro football with the WFL's Southern California Sun (1975).

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was the starting quarterback at Notre Dame for three seasons.
    He elected to play in the AFL, feeling he had a better opportunity to receive playing time in that league.
    He established himself as one of the AFL's top quarterbacks, upon being traded to the Raiders.
    He recorded a perfect passing ratio in a single game (1972).
    He guided the Raiders to four consecutive division titles (three pre-merger).
    He posted a record of 40-4-1 as a starting quarterback.
