Why he might be annoying:

He got his stage name from his mother calling 'Ivo, monta!' ('Ivo, come upstairs') when he was a child.
He had an affair with Marilyn Monroe despite considering her husband, Arthur Miller, his 'good friend,' and despite being married to actress Simone Signoret.
Before the filming of 'My Geisha,' he bet Shirley MacLaine's husband that he could seduce her. He won the bet.
He toured the Soviet Union shortly after the invasion of Hungary (1956) and called himself a 'fellow traveler.'
His second wife was nearly 40 years his junior.
He was exhumed to provide a DNA sample for a paternity suit (1998).

Why he might not be annoying:

He first became famous as a music hall performer and protege of Edith Piaf.
He was considered the personification of Gallic charm.
He became the first popular singer to perform solo at the Metropolitan Opera House (1982).
Marilyn Monroe called him 'the most exciting man in the world.'
The posthumous DNA test showed he was not the father of the child on whose behalf the paternity suit had been filed.
By his standards he was faithful, since he claimed 'I think a man can have two, maybe three affairs while he is married. But three is the absolute maximum. After that, you are cheating.'
