    His nickname during his career was 'Dobre Shunka,',which translated into 'good ham' from either Polish or Slovak.
    He was overshadowed by Jack Lambert during the 'Steel Curtain Defense' years.
    He wasn't considered intimidating by his peers.
    He missed out on playing in Super Bowl XIV, due to an ankle injury.
    He believes medicinal marijuana use can counter the worldwide opioid epidemic.

    He was one of the few outside linebackers that was able to successfully play pass defense as well as the safeties.
    He was considered a smart linebacker, who was rarely out of position and wasn't able to be fooled by offensive players.
    He spent his entire playing career with the Steelers, earning eight consecutive Pro Bowl appearances, along with earning four Super Bowl rings as a member of the team.
    He excelled in big play situations, and was known to have some of the best on-field instincts by football pundits.
    He recorded 53 career takeaways, which is considered the most ever recorded by a non-defensive back in NFL history.
