Why he might be annoying:

    His insistence on pronouncing his last name in the traditional Scots manner ('Ming-iss') resulted in the nickname 'Ming the Merciless.'
    During his first year in college, he failed Latin.
    After a tour of Nazi Germany, he wrote, 'The abandonment by the Germans of individual liberty has something rather magnificent about i (1938)
    He allowed the British to test nuclear weapons on Australian soil.
    He sent Australian soldiers to participate in the Vietnam War.
    A Parliamentary colleague noted, 'He tended to say things that were not only cutting and unkind, but that were unjustified.'

Why he might not be annoying:

    At thirteen, he ranked first in the state of Victoria in a national scholarship examination.
    He protested 'the barbaric and medieval persecution' of Jews in Germany (1938).
    He was the longest-serving Australian Prime Minister.
    When a heckler shouted, 'I wouldn't vote for you if you were the Archangel Gabriel, he retorted, 'If I were the Archangel Gabriel, I'm afraid you wouldn't be in my constituency.'
