The Resume

    (August 24, 1915-June 14, 1969)
    Born in Omaha, Nebraska
    Blues/rhythm and blues singer
Best known song was ‘Good Rockin’ Tonight’ (1948)
Other songs included ‘All She Wants to Do Is Rock,’ ‘Good Morning, Judge,’ ‘Bloodshot Eyes,’ ‘Keep On Churnin’,’ ‘Who Threw the Whiskey in the Well? (with Lucky Millinder),’ ‘Lolly Pop Mama’ and ‘Sittin’ on It All the Time’
Inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame (1994)

Why he might be annoying:

By age 18, he had already fathered two kids out of wedlock.
He was a spendthrift, with saxophonist Preston Love noting, ‘When he was making $175 a week, which was good in that day, he would owe Lucky Millinder thousands of dollars because he would have to borrow money every day.’
He initially rejected ‘Good Rockin’ Tonight’ when songwriter Roy Brown presented it to him; he only cut the song after Brown recorded it and had a regional hit in New Orleans.
He tried to cash in on the mid-50s mambo craze by turning ‘Good Rockin’ Tonight’ into ‘Good Mambo Tonight.’ (1954)
His favorite greeting on arriving at a party was to ask why everyone still had their clothes on.

Why he might not be annoying:

Before becoming a singer, he won several local dance contests.
    He was a sharp dresser.
    He was nicknamed ‘Mr. Blues.’
Record producer Henry Glover said, ‘[Elvis Presley] copied many of the vocal gymnastics of Wynonie as well as the physical gyrations. When you saw Elvis, you were seeing a mild version of Wynonie.’
