Hockey Player

The Resume

    (November 15, 1964- )
    Born in Providence, Rhode Island

Why he might be annoying:

He played three separate stints with the Devils.
He alternated between the starting role and backup positions with the Devils, before losing the starting spot to Martin Brodeur for good.
He posted a horrendous 19-39-4 record in 68 games over two seasons as the Sharks starting goaltender.
He followed it up by going 12-20-4 in two seasons with the Blackhawks, before being permanently relegated to backup duties the remainder of his career.
He was acquired by the Minnesota Wild in the 2000 NHL Expansion Draft, but was sent back to the Devils after it concluded.
He played no fewer then 12 games a season during his second stint with the Devils.
His inconsistent play prompted the Devils to trade him away for good at the 2001 trade deadline.
His career ended on a whimper as he posted a 2-4-1 record with the Islanders.

Why he might not be annoying:

His surname is an anagram of the word Terrier.
He earned MVP honors at the 1985 NCAA Frozen Four, despite Providence College losing in the championship game.
He became the Devils starting goaltender after Sean Burke was embroiled in a bitter dispute with the team's front office.
He earned two Stanley Cup rings with the Devils (1995, 2000).
He was part of the Teri run in the trade that sent Ed Belfour to the Sharks (1997).
Some hockey pundits felt his lack of success with the Sharks wasn’t entirely his fault as he played behind a porous defense.
