The Resume

    (February 4, 1889-November 14, 1960)
    Born in San Francisco, California
    Middle name was Leland
Performed with the Ziegfeld Follies (1917-18)
Provided voice work for Disney’s ‘Pinocchio’ as Honest John the Fox/J. Worthington Foulfellow
Acted in ‘The Front Page (1931),’ ‘Rain (1932),’ ‘A Tale of Two Cities (1935),’ ‘Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936),’ ‘Bringing Up Baby (1938),’ ‘His Girl Friday (1940),’ ‘Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942),’ 'The Boy With Green Hair (1948),' and ‘Friendly Persuasion (1956)’
Broadway credits include ‘Sally' (1920–23), 'Lady Be Good' (1924-25), and 'Treasure Girl' (1938-39)

Why he might be annoying:

He was typecast in roles that his IMDb bio could only describe as ‘blustery,’ ‘meddlesome’ 'excitable, officious blowhards.'
During the welcome dinner for the film cast of ‘Rain,’ Joan Crawford tried asking him about her interpretation of the Sadie Thompson character.
He allegedly chortled: ‘Listen, fishcake, when Jeanne Eagels died, Rain died with her.’ (the movie later bombed commercially and Crawford's performance was panned critically).
His Fox in Pinocchio is an OG icon of the ‘Furries’ community (people drawn romantically to anthropomorphic cartoon animals) - and just look at DeviantArt, if you don’t believe us.

Why he might not be annoying:

He appeared in five Best Picture Oscar nominees.
He was the first to sing ‘Lady Be Good’ on the Broadway stage.
His comedic antics in the musical 'Baby Bunting' reportedly made King George V laugh uproariously.
He had a fair-to-middling career in Silent films, but only really came into his own after the advent of talkies, when his fast-talking comedic style could be fully utilized to perfection.
He assisted Katharine Hepburn with getting her comedic timing right as Susan Vance, and she rewarded him by insisting his part as the absent-minded Sheriff be expanded (the film is now considered one of the best Screwball comedies of the genre).
He has the honor of being the first Disney Villain with his own song (‘Hi-Diddle-Dee-Dee’), which became an evil Leitmotif throughout the film.
He retired after making ‘Beau James,’ in 1957, and died of a stroke three years later.
