Why he might be annoying:

He smoked cigars inside Redskins Park, the team's training facility.
He was a heavy drinker.
His middle name is Adolph.
He was notorious for his carousing and partying in D.C. the night before games.
As a color commentator, he has received criticism in the media for refusing to be critical at times of team owner Daniel Snyder because of their close relationship.
Along with Billy Kilmer, he was part of the first big ‘quarterback controversy' for the Redskins.
He is very friendly with polarizing sportscaster George Michael.

Vince Lombardi said of him, ‘He may be the best the league has ever seen. He is the best I have seen.'
In his final season, he won his third NFL individual passing crown at age 40 (1974).
He is widely regarded as one of the best pure passers ever.
He often played in pain.
He knew his All-Pro tight end Jerry Smith was gay, and still threw passes to him (Kilmer ostracized Smith because of his orientation and hardly threw in Smith's direction).
He is the only quarterback of the modern era enshrined in Canton that is listed as less than 6 feet tall (5'11).

He threw 66 more touchdowns than interceptions (255 to 189).
He is a folk hero in D.C..
