Marilyn Manson was born here.
The Canton Bulldogs did not play in the 1924 NFL season because no one bought the team.
During the late 20th century, its status as the hub of heavy manufacturing went downhill as many factories were shut down or moved out.
Its population fell to under 100,000 in the 1980s.
On the 'The Colbert Report,' Stephen Colbert said it's 'crappy' as Barack Obama's presidential campaign run stopped by at this city (October 28, 2008).
