Why she might be annoying:

    She has had no permanent address since 1986.
    The kids leaving for college and divorcing her husband led her to embrace a traveling hippie lifestyle (Empty Nest Syndrome).
    She admitted to being fascinated by the native mens' penis gourds while in the jungles of Indonesia.
    When she cited a statistic that a majority of Americans have never left the continent, she said she felt sorry for them because 'Their minds stay closed and they all think America is the best place in the world [when] it's not true.'

Why she might not be annoying:

    She trained in Anthropology at UCLA.
    Her book 'More Spaghetti, I Say!,' about a monkey who can't stop eating spaghetti, is a staple in first and second grade classrooms.
    Her organization, Let's Get Global, is dedicated to encouraging and assisting high school graduates to have international experiences before college.
    She has traveled to over thirty countries throughout Africa, Central-South America, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
    She lists her e-mail address on her website and in her books and regularly corresponds with her readers' messages.
    She said: 'Fear comes from ignorance. And arrogance as well as a sense of inferiority. If more people interacted with other cultures, or even with foreigners within our own culture, the barriers would dissolve. Smiles work.'
