He was a minor league journeyman before he made his NHL debut.
Some hockey pundits felt the Flames grossly overpaid to sign him, despite the fact he wasn't a top four defenseman.
He was often a healthy scratch during his tenure with the Penguins.
He did not make his NHL debut until the age of 27.
