Why he might be annoying:

    He decided to become a Clippers fan after being fired from his job as an electrician and told he ‘would never amount to anything,’ then hearing a sportscaster say the same thing about the Clippers (1994).
    He originally called himself ‘Dancing Man’ before switching to Clipper Darrell.
    He usually attends games in an oversized half-red half-blue suit, accessorized with one red shoe and one blue shoe.
    He rents himself out to be a fan at parties and corporate events and sells t-shirts with his image.
    He got into a dispute with the Clippers over using the ‘Clipper Darrell’ name at events not sanctioned by the team. (2012).
    The team released a statement claiming, ‘He is not actually a fan of the Clippers, but a fan of what he can make off the Clippers.’

Why he might not be annoying:

    He attended 386 consecutive home games before his streak ended when he was hospitalized to be treated for high blood pressure.
    The Wall Street Journal called him ‘perhaps the only superfan in the history of the Los Angeles Clippers.’
    Clippers owner Donald Sterling invited him to fly on the team plane to attend a playoff game against the Phoenix Suns (2005).
    Mark Cuban was so impressed by his energetic display that Cuban offered to pay Darrell to move to Dallas and root for the Mavericks.
    He and the team eventually reached a mutually acceptable agreement over his use of the ‘Clipper Darrell’ name.
    During the dispute, Clippers players Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan tweeted their support for him.
