Why he might be annoying:

    There are few reliable historical records about him.
    His constitution classified citizens according to how much property they had.
    He endorsed pederasty and may have practiced it himself.
    He wrote a lot of preachy, mediocre poetry.
    He famously said, ‘Count no man happy until he is dead.’

    He reformed the laws so more citizens were eligible for public office.
    He founded a court that consisted of all Athenian citizens.
    He banned the practice of enslaving indebted farmers.
    He encouraged civic pride.
    He was distantly related to Plato.
