The Resume

    (July 16, 1906-June 18, 2006)
    Born in Vienna, Georgia
    Birth name was Abraham Orovitz
Directed 'Mr. Skeffington (1944),' 'Nora Prentiss (1947),' 'Adventures of Don Juan (1949),' 'The Damned Don't Cry (1950),' 'Harriet Craig (1950),' 'Goodbye, My Fancy (1951),' and 'The Young Philadelphians (1959)'
Appeared in 'Imaginary Witness: Hollywood and the Holocaust'

Why he might be annoying:

He had a reputation for being a 'woman's director.'
He claimed to have had on-set affairs with Bette Davis and Rita Hayworth.
He was so forthcoming about his extramarital flings with the stars he titled his autobiography 'Studio Affairs.'
He claimed in a TCM interview to have got into a heated argument with Joan Crawford, who tripped him when he tried to walk out on her (prompting him to turn around and physically strike her).
He claimed she called him later that night after attempting suicide by overdosing on pills.
He did audio commentaries for several of his films' DVD releases.
Usually the commentary tracks would go nowhere, with his vaguely summarizing the scenes as they happened without offering any insight into the making of the film itself.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was bullied for being Jewish as a kid.
He made his stage debut with Frances Bavier.
He had a reputation for his ability to rewrite any script he was given and turn it into a successful film.
He was called a woman's director but directed Richard Todd, Robert Vaughn, and Claude Rains to Oscar nominations.
His career was negatively affected after he was targeted by the House Un-American Activities Committee (he didn't work for four years).
He later worked in television and shot episodes of 'Baretta' and The Waltons.
He stayed married to his wife for fifty three years until her death, despite his transgressions.
He claimed his wife knew of his affair with Crawford and told him: 'I don't want you to, but If I were a man, I'd probably want to have an affair with her too.'
He died less than four weeks away from his 100th birthday.
