    Born in Watts, California
    Won gold medals in the 400-meter hurdles at the Barcelona Olympics (1992) and the World Championships in Stuttgart (1993)
    Won a silver medal in the 100 meters and silver in the 400 meter hurdles at the Pan-Am Games in Indianapolis (1987)

Why he might be annoying:

    He had an unorthodox hurdling technique of switching between 12 and 13 strides, which was considered unusual by track pundits.
    He put papers with 46.89 on his spikes as a motivational technique.
    He was unable to replicate the same degree of success he had earlier in his career, following his gold medal performance at the 1993 World Championships.
    He was rumored to have had the slowest reaction to the gun sounds.
    He struggled with a nagging knee injury in the years following the peak of his career.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He made the track team at UCLA as a walk-on.
    He set both a world and Olympic record, when he completed the 400 meter hurdles in 46.78 seconds (1992).
    He was the first recepient of the ESPY Award for Best Male Track Athlete (1993).
    He was inducted into the United States Track & Field Hall of Fame (2006).
    He was involved in a bus accident in Wales, and despite sustaining two broken ribs and a head injury, he attempted to pull a windscreen off a passenger who was trapped in the wreckage (2009).
    Outside of his track and field accolades, he is an accomplished artist.
    He donated his time to the Boys and Girls Clubs, along with toy drives for underprivileged children.
