Organization

The Resume

    (August 11, 1988- )
Al-Qaeda was created by Muhammed Atef and Osama Bin Laden (who is the groups leader/funder)
It grew out of the Soviet-Afghan War, and its core members consist of Afghan war veterans from all over the Muslim world
They have followers all over the Arab world, as well as in Europe, Asia, the United States and Canada
Al Qaeda is arabic for 'Base'

Why Al-Qaeda might be annoying:

    They lie to their followers.
They make Muslims and Islam look evil.
They make no distinction between civilians and government officials, and see both as primary targets.
The group has killed tens-of-thousands of people since its creation.
Al-Qaeda is intensely anti-Western, and views the United States in particular as the supreme enemy of Islam.
One of the organization's primary goals is the overthrow of what it sees as the 'corrupt and heretical governments' of Muslim states, and their replacement with the rule of Sharia (Islamic law).
Another one of their principal goals is to drive the United States armed forces out of Saudi Arabia (and elsewhere on the Saudi Arabian peninsula) and Somalia by the use of violence.
They give support to Muslim fighters in Afghanistan, Algeria, Bosnia, Chechnya, Eritera, Kosova, Pakistan, Somalia, Tajikistan and Yemen.
Senior member of the Al Qaeda, Abu Zubaydah, has helped Osama Bin Laden organize most of the terrorist attacks of the past 20 years, including the World Trade Center bombing in 1993 and the complete destruction of the buildings in 2001.
The United States trained many of the members of Al-Qaeda in basic military tactics during the Soviet-Afghan War. At that time the Soviet Union was seen as the largest threat to the free world, not the Arab states.
They have tried several times to construct a nuclear weapon, and they still are trying to this day.
Islamic groups that operate inside the United States send Al-Qaeda funds to buy weapons.
The group has no central base, and thus they are hard to keep track of.
The name sounds like the American company Alcoa.
Name is spelled Al-Qaeda or Al-Qaida of Al-Qa'ida.
They confirmed the death of Osama Bin Laden and warned that they'd turn U.S. happiness into sadness (May 6, 2011).

Why Al-Qaeda might not be annoying:

    They are very religious people.
Many of them were trained at a young age to hate the western world, and thus they are too ignorant to know right from wrong.
