Why he might be annoying:

He was a young liberal extremist who became an old conservative extremist.
He evaluates films not on their artistic merits, but on their supposed 'moral value.'
He is a religious fanatic.
One of his biggest fans is Rush Limbaugh, and he has guest-hosted Limbaugh's show many times.
He complains about celebrities voicing their politics, and yet he uses political criteria in every review he writes.
He dismissively refers to his fellow movie critics as 'establishment.'
He failed his driver's test three times.
He dropped out of Yale Law School.

Why he might not be annoying:

His books on bad movies are sometimes amusing.
One critic called him 'a Fundamentalist Christian fanatic,' when in reality he's an Orthodox Jewish fanatic.
In addition to his media criticism, he also wrote a history of the White House chiefs of staff.
He was admitted into Yale University at age 16.
Back in his liberal days, he worked to get more minorities hired by law-enforcement agencies.
He once took second place in a donut-eating contest.
