    Wrote the screenplays for ‘This Gun for Hire,’ ‘The House I Live In,’ ‘Pride of the Marines,’ ‘Cloak and Dagger,’ ‘The Red House,’ The Naked City,’ ‘Broken Arrow,’ ‘The Robe’ and ‘Two Mules for Sister Sara’

Why he might be annoying:

    He was jailed for contempt of congress for failing to answer any questions of the House of Un-American Activities Committee.
    He was attacked by fellow Hollywood Ten members when he wrote an article calling for more intellectual freedom in the American Communist party.

Why he might not be annoying:

    Someone else put their name on the script for ‘Broken Arrow’ because of Maltz was blacklisted.
    Although his name wasn’t on it, he still won on Oscar for his script for ‘Broken Arrow.’
    He was educated at Columbia University and the Yale School of Drama.
