    Performed at a nightclub she owned on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood
    Also used hypnotism for clinical purposes
    Ran workshops to teach self-hypnosis
    Appeared in the film ‘Divorce, American Style’ (1967)
    Hypnotized the characters played by Lucille Ball and Gale Gordon in an episode of ‘Here’s Lucy’ (1966)

Why she might be annoying:

    She looked like the drag queen version of herself.
    She had a nervous breakdown.
    She became interested in hypnosis after a psychiatrist used it to cure her of hysterical paralysis.
    She billed herself as ‘the hip hypnotist.’
    She recorded an album, singing numbers like ‘I Only Have Eyes for You’ and ‘Going Out of My Head.’

Why she might not be annoying:

    She spent much of her childhood in orphanages and foster homes.
    Her nightclub act earned $4,000 a week at her peak.
    As part of her stage act, she would hypnotize audience members, including visiting celebrities, such as Lloyd Bridges, who was hypnotized into believing he was swimming underwater through the audience, and Tuesday Weld, who she hypnotized into believing she was a stripper.
    Her clients included Sandy Koufax, who she helped to cut back on his cigarette smoking.
