    He attempted to run for the FIFA presidency, but was forced to drop out after he failed to garner support from a governing body.
    He was terminated from his position at Sports Illustrated, after he refused to take a paycut during the COVID-19 pandemic.
    He went as far as publicly condemning his former boss on social media, who in return retaliated by criticizing both his work and decision not to accept a permanent paycut publicly.
    He was detained in a crackdown in Qatar, after he was caught wearing a rainbow shirt.
    His sudden death in Qatar was initially believed to be a hit job, due to public criticism he made about the country’s human rights record.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was an avid soccer fan growing up.
    His debut Sports Illustrated article ‘Where’s Daddy?’ drew acclaim.
    He primarily wrote articles for Sports Illustrated covering both soccer and college basketball.
    He wrote the first Sports Illustrated article covering LeBron James as a high school phenom (2002).
    He was robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight, while covering the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Honduras.
    He was a champion for LGBT rights, as his older brother is openly gay.
    He collapsed in the press box at the 2022 World Cup, prior to a match.
    Despite initial speculation that his death was targeted, it was revealed by a coroner that he actually died from an aortic aneurysm.
