The Resume

    (December 18, 1925- )
    Born in Prestatyn, United Kingdom
Birth name is Augusta Margaret Diane Fuller
Acted in 'Curse of the Demon,' 'Green Grass of Wyoming,' 'Hell Drivers,' Escape' 'Moss Rose,' and 'The Ship Was Loaded'
Best known for her performance as the femme fatale Annie Laurie Starr in 'Gun Crazy' (1950)

Why she might be annoying:

    She dated Howard Hughes.
She made her stage debut at 13.
Her career fizzed out by the late 50's (she officially retired in 1961).
She identifies as Welsh by birth, even though the only reason she was born there was that her parents were prevented by a storm from returning to their home in Dublin.
She was scratched as the lead in 'Forever Amber' after Otto Preminger called her 'amateurish beyond belief.'
Cornel Wilde summed up the situation by dryly assessing 'Peggy flashed her two expressions for thirty-nine days. At the end of those thirty-nine days, Zanuck admitted she just couldn't do it.'
John M. Stahl compared her attempts to pass herself off as a 40's screen vamp to 'a little girl dressing in her mother's clothes.'
Joseph Lewis reportedly gave her the following directions for 'Gun Crazy': 'You're a female dog in heat, and you want him. But don't let him have it in a hurry' (his motivation for John Dall: 'you're cocks never been so hard.')

Why she might not be annoying:

    She worked with Dalton Trumbo.
She was the daughter of the British character actress, Margaret Cummins.
She was a player with Dublin’s Gate Theatre Company.
By the age of 12, she had played the title role in the stage version of 'Alice in Wonderland.'
She later won acclaim for her work in the title role of Junior Miss at the Saville Theatre.
She became the First Honorary Commander of the 582d Air Resupply Squadron (1954).
She had a good head on her shoulders and knew when to leave the industry.
She affected a seamless American accent as the Bonnie Parker-type gun moll in 'Gun Crazy,' for which she has received universal acclaim.
She had briefly dated (the then-unmarried) John F. Kennedy while he was vacationing in Los Angeles.
Linda Darnell replaced her as 'Amber' but the film bombed anyway.
She has been active with the Stars Foundation for Cerebral Palsy charity since the early 70's.
She is a welcome figure at Sci-Fi/Horror Film conventions, and her work in the British-American horror genre is fondly remembered ('Who Goes There!' 'Night of the Demon,' etc.)
