The Resume

    (February 19, 1939- )
    Born in Qingdao, China
    Birth name was Erin Carney
Founded Chiswick Women's Aid (1971), which evolved into Refuge
Wrote 'Scream Quietly or the Neighbors Will Hear' (1974) and 'Prone to Violence' (1982)

Why she might be annoying:

She controversially claimed women who returned to abusive partners did so because they were 'addicted to violence.'
She was married twice, divorced twice.
She ended up in a homeless shelter with debts of over £50,000 (1997).
She dismissed feminism as 'a lie.'
She joined 'A Voice for Men' (2013), a ''men's rights' website whose editor, Paul Elam, has said that he would never deliver a guilty verdict as a juror in a rape trial, regardless of the evidence, because the justice system has been corrupted by 'false rape culture.'

Why she might not be annoying:

She and her family were captured by the Japanese Army during World War II and were later exchanged for prisoners of war.
Her mother beat her: 'She would do it for no reason, although I always knew it was coming because her face would twitch and a red spot would appear on her cheek.'
She established the world's first domestic violence shelter.
MP Jack Ashley said, 'The work of Mrs. Pizzey was pioneering work of the first order. It was she who first identified the problem, who first recognized the seriousness of the situation and who first did something practical by establishing the Chiswick aid centre. As a result of that magnificent pioneering work, the whole nation has now come to appreciate the significance of the problem.'
Refuge removed all references to her from their website. (Ingrates!)
