The Resume

    (December 8, 1941- )
    Born in Cleveland, Ohio
Guard, Philadelphia Eagles (1964-68), L.A. Rams (1969-70), Oakland Raiders (1971-73)
    All-American lineman at Nebraska
Member of both the College and NFL Halls of Fame
His jersey #64 retired by the Nebraska Cornhuskers
    Seven-time All-NFL selection

Why he might be annoying:

Despite his size, he was not a high school star, and was offered a scholarship to Nebraska because of his potential.
For his first two years as a Cornhusker, he complained about injuries and was basically unmotivated.
When Bob Devaney became Nebraska's coach in 1962, he told Brown that because of his tendency to be “injured”, he was going to be taken off the team and Devaney suggested he play tennis to avoid being hurt.
As a professional player, he was outspoken and confronted owners and coaches before it was considered acceptable.
By 1971, the Oakland Raiders were the only team willing to take a chance on him.
Despite being one of the NFL’s greatest linemen, he was traded twice in his prime. Because of this, he was not voted into the Hall of Fame until many years after he became eligible.
He described his career like this: ‘I never felt like I could have done more. I just did it in a way that I felt like, if I was paying my money to watch somebody do this, I'd pay to watch (me).’

Why he might not be annoying:

He credited Devaney’s motivation with saving his career, and he quickly evolved into an All-American lineman for Nebraska.
He was a 300-pound offensive lineman decades before it was common.
As for being traded, he demanded to be traded from the Eagles because they fired head coach Joe Kuharich, whom he admired. He asked to be traded from the Rams because he was treated unfairly in contract negotiations.
Raiders coach John Madden considered Brown as one of the greatest linemen in NFL history, and was one of his biggest supporters for the Hall of Fame.
At his very first Raiders practice, he came out, lined up against a goalpost, and snapped it in two with a forearm.
Madden credited him with motivating the Raiders to play more aggressively.
He chose his son to introduce him at his Hall of Fame induction.
