    Outfielder for the Boston Red Sox (1909-1920) and the Chicago White Sox (1921-1925)
    Boston Red Sox captain (1919-1920)
    Four-time World Series Champion (1912, 1915, 1916 and 1918)
    Three 100+ runs scored seasons (1913, 1922 and 1924)
    Inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame (1971)
    Died of a stroke at age 87

Why he might be annoying:

    His nickname was Hoop.
    He played for both Sox teams.
    He committed errors frequently as an outfielder.
    Salary disputes with Harry Frazee resulted in him being traded to the White Sox.
    He was the AL leader for outs made twice (1910 and 1912).
    His salary was cut back as he was the head baseball coach for Princeton University in the Great Depression.

    He created the rump slide to grab short flies.
    He was on one of baseball's best outfield trios with Tris Speaker and Duffy Lewis.
    He was the first player to hit a leadoff home run in each doubleheader game, 80 years before Rickey Henderson did that feat (May 30, 1913).
    He hit 2 home runs in a World Series game as he was the first player to do so (October 13, 1915).
    He holds the Red Sox records for triples (130) and stolen bases (300).
    He was the postmaster in Capitola, California for nearly 25 years.
