He indirectly caused a constitutional crisis when he stole Thelma Furness away from the Prince of Wales, driving him into the arms of Wallis Simpson, the woman he would give up the throne for.
His father decided to skip over him for the title of Aga Khan after he kept a delegate of Ismalis waiting in a hotel lobby for an hour while he entertained a young woman in his suite.

During World War II he won the Croix de Guerre and American Bronze Star for his work in intelligence.
Despite his playboy reputation, he proved to be an effective diplomat for Pakistan and was elected Vice President of the UN General Assembly.
