Her husband was a playboy who cheated on her.
She did not become queen of England until she was 56.

Why she might not be annoying:

She founded Queen Alexandra's Royal Nursing Corps.
She was very patient (how else could she have put up with her husband?).
She was almost totally deaf.
Her eldest son died in 1890.
Her second son became King of England and her daughter became Queen of Norway.
