Why he might be annoying:

    Despite his solid career, he is unheard of by modern Lions fans.
    Some football pundits felt his snub from the Pro Football Hall of Fame came as a result of playing in Detroit.
    He was slowly relegated to the bench from the starting lineup later in his career.
    His NFL accolades were overshadowed by those during his years at Notre Dame.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Notre Dame.
    He was the second lineman in NCAA history to win the Heisman Trophy.
    He was the first lineman in football history to win three college championships and three NFL championships.
    He was a member of all three of the Lions NFL championship (pre-Super Bowl) teams during the 1950's.
