Despite being considered a top rated prospect, his draft stock fell considerably when questions were raised about his attitude.
His surname is the target for a lot of sexual innuendo jokes.

He is of mixed race as he is Jamacian-Chinese on his father's side and Russian-Swedish-Chilean on his mother's side.
He was described as being one of the best skilled hockey players for his age group by hockey pundits.
He wore #66 to pay homage to Mario Lemieux.
He handled the criticism he received to wearing Lemieux's number with grace, saying he didn't mean to wear it as a disrespect, but to pay tribute to the latter.
