The Resume

    (December 23, 1940- )
Born in Washington, District of Columbia
Guitarist in Jefferson Airplane (1965-72) and Hot Tuna (1969- )
Recorded the solo albums 'Quah' (1974), 'Jorma' (1979), 'Barbeque King' (1981), 'Too Hot To Handle' (1985), 'The Land of Heroes' (1995), 'Blues Country Heart' (2002) and 'River of Time' (2009)

Why he might be annoying:

He and his dad are both named Jorma Kaukonen, Jr. (Shouldn't Junior's junior be Jorma III?)
He initially turned down the offer to join Jefferson Airplane because he considered himself a blues purist.
In the late 70s, he dyed his hair purple, then bright orange, and got heavily tattooed.

Why he might not be annoying:

His concerts, with Hot Tuna or solo, usually feature a one hour acoustic set followed by a two hour electric set.
He and Airplane/Hot Tuna bassist Jack Casady began playing together in their teens.
He noted about their longevity, 'Jack and I have disagreed about a lot of stuff over the years. But even in our darker years, we've never had a fight.'
He runs a guitar camp and says that teaching is one of the most rewarding aspects of his career.
