    Born in Brooklyn, New York
    Wrote 'Capitalism and Freedom' (1962), 'A Monetary History of the United States' (1963), 'There's No Such Thing As A Free Lunch' (1975), 'Free to Choose' (1980) and 'Economic Freedom, Human Freedom, Political Freedom' (1992)
    Won the Nobel Prize in Economics (1976)

Why he might be annoying:

    Although he later called the New Deal 'the wrong cure for the wrong disease,' he took a job with a New Deal agency when he had trouble finding work after college.
    While working for the Treasury during World War II, he helped create the payroll withholding tax system.
    He was criticized for associating with Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet.
    Canadian economist Toby Sanger said that Iceland's 2008-09 economic crisis was a result of the nation adopting Friedman's laissez-faire economic policies in the 1990s.

Why he might not be annoying:

    'The Economist' hailed him as 'the most influential economist of the second half of the 20th century, possibly of all of it.'
    He was married to Rose Director for 68 years until his death.
    He said his proudest accomplishment was helping eliminate the draft in favor of a volunteer military.
    Ben Bernanke said, 'Among economic scholars, Milton Friedman had no peer.'
    Economist Robert Solow called him one of 'the greatest debaters of all time.'
