His grandmother fed him eggs to fatten him up.
He admitted, 'If I weren't a goalkeeper I couldn't be anything else but a farmer with the hands I've got.'

He came from a humble background.
He worked as a mechanic prior to becoming a soccer star.
He was named one of the greatest goalkeepers ever, holding the record, 1142 minutes spanning 1972 to 1974, for longest time without allowing a goal.
At 40, he was the oldest skipper to lead a team to a World Cup victory, winning Italy's third trophy in 1982.
