Why he might be annoying:

In spite of all the legends, his true title and name cannot be certainly ascertained.
According to legend, he had all children killed who were born on May Day, in order to negate a prophecy stating that his own bastard son would be his undoing.

Why he might not be annoying:

In spite of the little that is known of him, his aura has survived more than one thousand years.
His life gave rise to the ideal of 'Might For Right.'
The musical 'Camelot' is based on his legend.
Historically, he and his predecessors protected the British Isle from Goth invasions.
According to legend, he will return when needed the most.
