Why he might be annoying:

He fought for Adolf Hitler during World War II.
His brilliance cost the lives of many Allied soldiers.

Why he might not be annoying:

He contributed greatly to the development of modern armored warfare tactics.
An Allied investigation revealed that he committed no war crimes and did not have anything to do with the Holocaust.
Near the end of the war, he was dismissed for suggesting that Germany should try to stop the fighting.
To help his troops, Guderian wrote a book that soldiers enjoyed reading; it included cartoons, jokes, lists of do's and don'ts, and comprehensive information about operating and maintaining tanks.
