The Resume

    (April 20, 1943-November 15, 1971)
    Birth name is Edith Sedgwick
First 'Superstar' of Andy Warhol films
Starred in 'Poor Little Rich Girl (1965),' 'Chelsea Girls (1966)' and 'Ciao, Manhattan!(1972)'
Appeared in TIME, Life, and Vogue (1963-1965)
    Second cousin of Kyra Sedgwick

Why she might be annoying:

Almost all of her films were directed by Andy Warhol.
She dropped out of Cambridge University to pursue a modeling career in New York.
Once in New York, she became a drug addict.
While living at the Hotel Chelsea, she burned down her apartment twice (1966-7).
    She smoked.
    She had breast implants (1971).
One of her Warhol films, 'Four Stars (1967),' is 24 hours long.
She spent almost her entire trust fund from the Sedgwick family fortune in just a few months.
Because of her family's wealth, she didn't know the value of money and once tipped a waiter 100%.
She married a man she met at a rehabilitation clinic who was eight years her junior.
She died of a barbiturate overdose at the age of 28.
She never achieved the level of fame she had hoped for.

Why she might not be annoying:

Although she came from a wealthy family in Massachusetts, Edie was raised on her parents' ranch outside Santa Barbara and lived simply.
Her family included a number of relatives who played a part in early American History.
The Sedgwicks also had a history of mental illness, alcoholism and suicide.
Because of this, her parents were advised not to have any children. They ended up having eight, Edie being the second youngest.
Her parents privately schooled her and isolated her from the outside world.
Her father was mentally unstable and sexually abused Edie as a child.
Her mother used diet pills and let Edie take them as a child.
She battled and overcame anorexia at only 14.
Two of her brothers committed suicide.
Her parents forced her into mental institutions and electroshock therapy.
Andy Warhol never paid her for her roles in his movies.
A lot of the money she spent in New York was to promote Andy and entertain his guests.
Many people feel that Andy exploited her.
She had a unique look: long earrings, boyish hair and batwing eyelashes.
She is said to have inspired Bob Dylan to write 'Like a Rolling Stone,' 'Just Like a Woman' and 'Leopard-Skin Pill-box Hat.'
She modeled for Betsey Johnson, who later followed her onto the set of 'Ciao, Manhattan!'
Her life has inspired several songwriters, including Patti Smith.
To many, she summarized what it meant to be young, beautiful and carefree.
