    Pitcher for the Memphis Red Sox (1923–24), Chicago American Giants (1923-30, 1932-35, 1937), Birmingham Black Barons (1925), Homestead Grays (1931), Kansas City Monarchs (1931) and the Pittsburgh Crawfords (1936)
    Two-time All-Star (1933-34)
    Two-time Negro League World Series champion (1926-27)
    Inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame (1996)
    Younger half-brother of Andrew 'Rube' Foster

    He pitched a 4-3 win over a major league squad that included Babe Herman, Joe Kuhel, and two Waner brothers, Paul and Lloyd in a game (October 4, 1931).
    He was considered as one of the Negro Leagues' most dominant left-handed pitchers.
    He took a job as both the dean and a baseball coach at Alcorn Agricultural and Mechanical College.
    He is the namesake of the Foster Baseball Field at McGowan Stadium in Lorman, Mississippi.
