    He tried to serve in the U.S. military, but all branches declined him.
    He was hampered by injuries which limited his playing time in his senior college year to five games.
    He didn't do much in his only NFL season as he intercepted two passes and scored three times in a 10 game span.
    His NFL career was a bust.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He won All-American honors twice.
    He helped Oklahoma State win the 1945 Cotton Bowl and the 1946 Sugar Bowl.
    He established the Oklahoma State record for career yards of total offense with 4,627 for 43 years until Mike Gundy surpassed it with 7,749 in the 1989 season.
    He was the first player to come from Oklahoma State to be the first overall NFL draft pick by the Bears.
    His marriage with his wife, Veta Jo, lasted for over six decades prior to his death at age 84.
