Why he might be annoying:

He likes to stage impromptu street performances that he calls 'love riots.'
Some of his 'love riots' really tie up traffic.
After he won an Academy Award for 'Soul,' commentators seemed uncertain whether he was the second or third black composer to win a film scoring Oscar. (The answer depended on whether or not they counted Prince's win for Best Song Score for 'Purple Rain.')
He said, 'I don't think this is egotistical, but there's no body like me.... I feel that I'm the only person in my generation who can do a lot of things.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He was named to Forbes' '30 Under 30' list (2016)
He performed the National Anthem at the NBA All-Star Game (2017).
He teamed with Gary Clark, Jr., for the Grammy tribute to Chuck Berry and Fats Domino. (2018)
He was named Creative Director of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem.
He was named a 'traveling ambassador' for the nonprofit Music Unites, focusing on bringing music education to underfunded school systems.
He considers bringing jazz to the people part of his mission: 'People don't dance to jazz anymore, and that's one of the problems.'
He and Stay Human recorded a live EP, 'My N.Y.,' on a moving subway car.
