Why he might be annoying:

He was arrested multiple times for drunk driving.
He was fired from 'Rocky Jones, Space Ranger' after he was arrested on weapons charges (February, 1954).
After posting bail, he fled to Mexico, got into a shootout with the police and served four months in jail.
He was arrested in Las Vegas for passing bad checks (1955).
He was arrested after hitting his stepdaughter over the head with a crutch (1960).
Despite being in a wheelchair following his latest DUI wreck, he was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon after trying to stab his neighbor (September, 1963).
He died either from an overdose of barbiturates or from injuries received in a beating that may have resulted from a drug deal gone bad.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a discovered in a hospital by a casting director who heard him singing to entertain his ailing father.
His father died the same year he made his film debut.
Leonard Maltin said his death 'was a particularly sad end for someone who, as a child, had shown so much easy charm and talent.'
