Why The Bronx might be annoying:

    Bronx County did not officially form until more than 15 years after New York City incorporated (1914).
    It arrogantly is referred to as 'The' Bronx.
    A whistle of disapproval is called the Bronx cheer.
    An area of crime and poverty, known as Fort Apache the South Bronx, has become a photo-op for presidents and candidates since Jimmy Carter.

    It has one of the highest female to male ratio of any area in the U.S., with 10 females for ever 8 males.
    Bronx County, is the 62nd and newest New York State County, officially established (1914).
    Movies set in Bronx are 'Marty,' 'Bronx Tale,' 'Raging Bull,' 'Night of the Juggler,' 'South Bronx Heroes,' 'Escape from the Bronx,' 'Fort Apache the Bronx,' 'Five Corners,' 'Wanderers' and mentioned in 'Quackser Fortune Has a Cousin in the Bronx'
    TV series 'The Bronx Zoo,' 'Goldbergs,' 'Car 54' and 'Becker' are set in The Bronx.
    The Bronx is the northernmost borough of New York City.
    The Bronx is the only borough of New York City that is not an island and connected to the landmass of the United States.
    In 1997, the Bronx was designated an 'All American City' by the National Civic Council (1997).
    In a faux pas, the governor of Vermont opposed to the shrinking of Vermont's park lands and said we don't want Vermont to become the Bronx, later apologized. It turns out the the Bronx has more parkland than Vermont.
    It is home to the winningest baseball team, The New York Yankees.
    The NFL's New York Giants played in the Bronx.
    It is the home of one of the oldest and most famous zoos in the world, the Bronx Zoo.
    Some of the best Italian food and breads come from the little Italy section of the Bronx, known as Arthur Avenue.
    It is the home of Fordham University, Lehman College and Manhattan College.
    A short lived amusement park, Freedomland opened in the early 1960's. A full day pass entitling admission to all 34 rides cost $2.50 (1964). A huge housing complex, Co-op City, replaced Freedomland.
    It is a sister borough of Manhattan.
