Why he might be annoying:

    Many of his songs were used as telenovela themes.
    He continued dyeing his mustache and eyebrows jet black long after the rest of his hair had gone white.
    During his farewell concert, he said he would ‘spit on’ Donald Trump over his anti-immigration opinions (April 16, 2016).
    He decided not get a liver transplant, saying ‘I'm not going to sleep with my wife with another man's liver. I don’t even know if he was a homosexual or a drug addict.’ (2019)
    Singer Lupita Castro accused him of sexually harassing her when she was seventeen.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was called ‘the king of ranchero’ and ‘the Mexican Sinatra.’
    He won three Grammy Awards and eight Latin Grammys.
    A concert he held at the Zocalo (the central square of Mexico City) broke attendance records for the location, attracting an audience of 220,000 (February 14, 2009).
    When the Pan American Games were held in Guadalajara, he was the first performer in the opening ceremony and sang the Mexican national anthem before the parade of athletes (2011).
    He was married to Maria ‘Cuquita’ Abarca for 57 years.
    His oldest son, Vicente Jr., was kidnapped (1998). He was returned, with two fingers amputated, after a ransom of $3.2 million was paid.
