General manager for the Detroit Lions (1936-38) and the Cleveland Rams (1939-40)
Head coach for the Detroit Lions (1937-38) and the Cleveland Rams (1939-42)
Athletic director at the University of Detroit (1951-54)

Why he might be annoying:

He was virtually unheard of by modern day Lions fans.
He initially retired before the 1933 season, before returning to the relocated franchise a year later.
He said 'I'm too old, look how long it takes me to get undressed.' in regards to his final retirement as a player.
He tried to skirt the NFL rules when he took the Rams coaching job, by trying to say he was a free agent as a player, but the league didn't buy it and denied his request.
His tenure with the Rams wasn't successful in contrast to his one with the Lions.

He excelled in both football and basketball.
He guided the Lions to the franchise's first NFL championship (1935).
He was the first player in the history of the Lions franchise to have his number retired.
He was considered to be one of the smartest players to play his position by his teammates.
He was part of the inaugural class at the Pro Football Hall of Fame (1963).
