Why he might be annoying:

Many of his companies floundered.
Triangle Company's slogan was 'Clean Pictures for Clean People.'
The miles of sets where his films were made were called 'Inceville.'
The fatal heart attack he had on board William Randolph Hearst's yacht spawned many conspiracy theories.
The most popular of these has Hearst aiming a gun at Charlie Chaplin (allegedly involved with Hearst's mistress Marion Davies), but hitting Ince.
Peter Bogdanovich's ‘The Cat's Meow (2001)' revived many of these rumors.

Why he might not be annoying:

His innovations, such as a detailed shooting script, modernized the movie industry.
He produced the first Westerns and gangster films.
His production of 'The Italian' heavily influenced Francis Ford Coppola's 'Godfather' movies.
His heart attack (or shooting as many believe) occurred during his birthday party.
His sensationalized death has eclipsed his groundbreaking achievements as a producer and director.
