The Resume

    (1942- )
Formed by Mary Ware Dennett, with help of Margaret Sanger
Previously known as the National Birth Control League and American Birth Control League

Why Planned Parenthood might be annoying:

Their clinics are often protested and demonstrated against by pro-life (anti-abortion) groups.
They are accused of being racist because the majority of their clinics are in urban areas.
They antagonize Christians by annually distributing 'Choice On Earth' Christmas cards.
They are suspected of providing illegal services for minors and requiring no parental notification.
They are criticized for not contacting the police in every case where the possibility of a criminal offense exists (such as child predation).
They are a powerful political lobby group in Washington, DC.
The charity Susan G. Komen for the Cure announced it was cutting funding for Planned Parenthood, setting off a firestorm of controversy (February 1, 2012)

Why Planned Parenthood might not be annoying:

They claim to be ‘the largest source of reproductive health care' in the United States.
They offer their services in developing countries and fight for women's rights worldwide.
They fight for what they believe in, and have taken many cases to the United States Supreme Court.
They stringently protect the privacy of their patients.
They educate students on real reproductive health issues which abstinence-only education fails to address.
They encourage people to make responsible decisions in an effort to avoid unwanted pregnancies and the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.
They offer important health services for low income and uninsured clients.
