He was first arrested for burglary when he was 17.
He deserted from the US Army (1919).
He was arrested for murder five times without being convicted.
    He led a flashy lifestyle.
He was married but dated showgirls.
He inspired a legendary flop musical by Peter Allen.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was nicknamed Legs for either his speed at outrunning the cops or his dance skills.
He survived so many murder attempts that Dutch Schultz asked, 'Ain't there nobody that can shoot this guy so he don't bounce back?'
His enemies finally caught up to him, shooting him three times in the head while he was passed out following a party.
He may have been bumped off by the Albany police at the behest of the local Democratic political machine.
