The Resume

    (1960-circa 1996)
    Rooted for their AFC team
Often dressed or painted themselves in the team colors of Columbia Blue, Scarlet Red and White
They watched home games at Jeppessen Stadium (1960-64), Rice Stadium (1965-67) and the Houston Astrodome (1968-96)
They loved their mascot The Roughneck
Their team relocated to Nashville and became the Tennessee Titans after the 1996 season

Why they might be annoying:

They watched their team play in college football venues for the duration of their AFL years.
They had to watch a substandard product for a good portion of their NFL existence.
They watched their team blow a 35-3 halftime lead and eventually get eliminated by the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Wild Card Game (1992).
They started the trends of face painting, bringing large flashcards, singing fight songs and waving pom-poms to show support for their team in what was dubbed the 'Luv Ya Blue' movement.
They pretended to care about their team's fate during the late 1980's and mid 1990's when they were dealt with relocation threats to Jacksonville and Nashville, respectively.
They abandoned their team in droves when it became known they were moving to Nashville.
Only 15,000 of them showed up to watch the Oilers play their final home game at the Astrodome (December 15, 1996).
Their abandonment of the team, along with their declining fan and corporate support, prompted Bud Adams to opt out of his Astrodome lease a year earlier than expected.

Why they might not be annoying:

Their team was one of the AFL's eight charter franchises.
They watched their team win the first two championships in AFL history (1960, 1961).
They watched their team play in the AFL Championship what would be considered a classic game, despite losing in double overtime (1962).
They take pride in the fact their 'Luv Ya Blue' movement paved the way for sports fandom as we know it.
They were a devoted fanbase, prior to the team's eventual decline in the mid 1990's.
They only had to wait six years for the NFL to return, when they transferred their fan support to the successor franchise, the Texans.
Some of the die-hard fans petitioned both the NFL and the Titans to turn over the franchise records and intellectual properties of the Oilers to the Texans and have it recognized as one continuous franchise (albeit to no avail).
