Celebrity's Relative
    (1962- )
    Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil
    Heiress; Interior designer
    Married Ayrton Senna (February, 1981)
Divorced from Senna, citing difficulty adapting to being a Formula One wife (February, 1982)
Served as a consultant for the acclaimed documentary on her late ex-husband 'Senna' (2010)
She was born into the Brazilian aristocracy.
She was proposed to by Ayrton in a motel after they had just made love.
Although they had known each other for years, she and Senna had only actually been 'dating' for two months before he proposed to her.
She disliked accompanying Ayrton to England, where he pursued a racing career in Norfolk.
While the competing demands on her husband's time probably led to her discomfort, one Senna biographer asserted that the real reason was that 'the shift from a houseful of servants in sunny Brazil to a modest life in miserable Norfolk near the Van Damien factory had proven to be too much.'
Inevitably, the marriage began to suffer, prompting Senna to briefly put his racing ambitions on hold and return to Brazil in a vain attempt to preserve it.
The two ended up quietly divorcing after Senna was given the choice between remaining in Brazil to work for the family business or pursuing a Formula One career (biographers have often portrayed him as heartlessly abandoning her, but it was apparently her own choice after realizing she always be 'number two' in his life, after racing).
She and Senna had known each other since they were two (their mothers were friends).
She spoke virtually no English but still allowed herself to be uprooted to the UK from her home country to support her husband.
She spent close to a year confined to her apartment after her first marriage ended.
She moved on after the divorce to become a successful interior designer, later remarrying.
She believed in her husband's dream and allowed him to divorce her so he could pursue it (selfless loyalty).
She was Senna's only wife, but was passed over for the title of Senna's 'official widow' at his funeral services, in favor of his longtime girlfriend Xuxa.
She remained silent for years after his death, choosing not to publicize her relationship to the famous driver, both out of respect to him and her second husband (in stark contrast to Senna's final partner Adriane Galisteu).
However, after almost a decade she publicly broke her silence, saying of her late ex-husband: 'I learned with him to be determined and to fight for what I want in life. I know he is in a better place now and - its so hard to talk about - his light is touching all of us.'
