The Resume

    (1964- )
Born in Andover, England, United Kingdom
    Line-Up in 1966:
Reg Presley (Birth name is Reginald Ball; June 12, 1943-February 4, 2013), vocals
    Chris Britton (June 21, 1944- ), guitar
Pete Staples (May 3, 1944- ), bass guitar
Ronnie Bond (Birth name was Ronald Bullis; May 4, 1940-November 13, 1992), drums
Recorded the singles 'Wild Thing' (1966), 'With a Girl Like You' (1966), 'I Can't Control Myself' (1966) 'Anyway That You Want Me' (1966), 'Night of the Long Grass' (1967) and 'Love Is All Around' (1967)

Why he might be annoying:

Due to a dispute over distribution rights, 'Wild Thing' was released in the US on two labels simultaneously. The dispute also ate up the American royalties from the song.
'I Can't Control Myself' was banned by radio stations for the line 'Your slacks are low and your hips are showing.'
As a publicity stunt, Britton claimed he was leaving the group because he was tired of being searched for drugs at airports just because he was in a rock band (1968).
A recording session that degenerated into a profanity-laced argument among the band members was bootlegged as 'The Troggs Tapes.' (1972)
Presley took the royalties he earned from Wet Wet Wet's hit cover of 'Love Is All Around' (1994) and invested most of the money in crop circle research.

Why he might not be annoying:

They successfully alternated between rockers like 'Wild Thing' and ballads like 'Love Is All Around.'
When Jimi Hendrix played 'Wild Thing' at the Monterey Pop Festival, he introduced it as 'our national anthem.'
They were guest performers on David Bowie's TV special 'The 1984 Show.' (1973)
'The Troggs Tape' inspired some of the dialogue in 'This Is Spinal Tap.' (1984)
REM collaborated with them on the album 'Athens Andover.' (1992)
