Actor

The Resume

    (1536-1608)
Leading dramatic actor and one of William Shakespeare's partners in the Lord Chamberlain's Men. Created most of the major Shakespearean roles, including Hamlet, King Lear, Othello, Henry V, Macbeth, Shylock, and Richard III

Why he might be annoying:

The first record of his name was when he physically resisted his father's business partners to take a share in their theater.
He rose to success from nepotism, acting in theaters owned by his father.
He inherited the Blackfriars Theater from his father (1597).

Why he might not be annoying:

He took the timbers from the Blackfriars and used them to construct the Globe Theater, where most of Shakespeare's plays were performed.
He was the most prominent tragic actor of the Elizabethan theater.
In addition to his Shakespearean roles, he acted in plays written by Ben Jonson, Thomas Kyd, John Webster, and Francis Beaumont and John Fletcher.
He was a talented painter and scenic designer as well as an actor.
Shakespeare left him 26 shillings 8 pence in his will to buy a ring as a keepsake of their association.
