He began losing his hair from stress when he was closing in on the home run record.

He is still not in the hall of fame, and the Yankees did not retire his number '9' until Graig Nettles wore it after him.
The record books showed an asterisk next to his home run record, because Babe Ruth broke the record in a 154 game season, Maris did it in a 162 game season.
