Why he might be annoying:

His childhood nickname was 'Tiger.'
He planned on turning down his Oscar-winning role in 'The Barefoot Contessa' because he would have had to take under-the-title billing to Humphrey Bogart.
He had to drop out of 'Lawrence of Arabia' because of ill health.
His death was falsely reported several times in the 1970s and 1980s.

Bogart took him out drinking and got him to accept the lower billing.
He was a successful Shakespearean actor on Broadway, whose roles included the grave digger opposite John Gielgud's Hamlet and Marc Antony opposite Orson Welles' Brutus.
His childhood neighbor was Harry Houdini, who taught him magic tricks.
